The 80 mm Unguided Aviation Rocket ARS-8KOM is of “air–to–ground” type, designed to be fired from the B8, B8M, B8M-1, B8-V20-A, B-8V7 and B-8S7 rocket pods carried on aircraft and helicopters of the front-line and army aviation, is intended for destruction of:
- Armoured ground targets – tanks, armoured personnel carriers (APCs) and machinery, etc.;
- Unarmoured ground targets – radiolocation stations, rocket launching units, soft-skinned combat materiel on the ground, aircrafts in park position, etc., and
- Enemy manpower.
The ARS-8KOM Rocket is loaded into and fired from the corresponding container launchers B8, B8M, B8M-1, B8-V20-A, B-8V7 and B-8S7, which are carried by various aircraft - attack aircraft, bombers and fighter-bombers: Su-17, Su-24, Su-34, Su-25, Su-27, Su-35, MiG-23 and MiG-27; and attack helicopters: Mi-8, Mi-24, Mi-35, Mi-28, Ka-52 and Ka-50.
